National Nurses Day

Today the seedlings have celebrated National Nurses Day. Within our setting, we have seven Medical staff parents and we want to make them feel special for all the hard work they do everyday.

The children made their parents some lovely cards to thank them.

Thank You Cards

Between the Seedlings we have two doctors, three nurses, a Mental Health Worker and a Maternity Nurse so whatever happens, we’ve got it covered!

Emma used bandages and plasters to show the children the kind of work our nurses do. The children had the experience of role play using the bandages and Doctor’s bag.

The children were all so caring Emma and Tracie think we are educating a new generation of medical staff! So worth our efforts! You never know, they may be looking after us one day! Is that a good thing? Haha.

Georgia was off yesterday so we celebrated again today as her mummy works for the NHS.

St George’s Day

Over the last few days Emma and the seedlings have been busy making St. George’s Day Shields.

First of all, Emma was careful and cut out shield shapes from an old cardboard box.

The Seedlings then painted their own shield white. (And the table top!)

The Seedlings had to wait overnight for the white paint to dry. They then painted a red cross on their shield to represent the English flag.

Next, they coloured in a dragon printable which Emma cut out and the seedlings stuck it onto the front of the shield.

Georgia told Tracie she was scared of dragons as they have fire coming out their mouth.

The seedlings were all proud showing their mummy’s and daddy’s the shields when they were picked up, they walked out holding them ready to slay the dragons on the way home.

Soft Play Fun

This week, all the children have loved the soft play area. Even the Wanderers and Rangers have used them.

Emma and the Seedlings used the soft play area to practice counting and looked around for different shapes.

Molly buried Jack underneath the blocks to make a grave!

Martie made Tracie’s heart jump when trying to go down the steps head first!

Chloe, Leo and Molly made a big aeroplane. Leo was the pilot and took the girls on holiday. Tracie asked if he could fly her to Madeira so she could enjoy the hot weather, Chloe said she wants to go with her so she could go swimming.

Martha used the blocks to make a barricade as she didn’t want to go home! We love the blocks as we can make up so many different activities and role play games.

Happy 3rd Birthday Fearne

Today the Little Seedlings all threw Fearne a big Rainbow Birthday Tea Party.

Happy Birthday

The Seedlings all decided we should have carrot and cucumber sticks, corn snacks, Jam sandwiches, pear, banana and grapes as Fearne is a plant based child and these are her favourites.

Plant Based Tea Party

When Tracie said we can’t have Birthday cake the children insisted we had to have one, not just any plain one. They all shouted “a big chocolate one” with candles!

The Little Seedlings decorated the room with rainbows that they had made in the morning.

All the girls came in wearing rainbows on their tops to brighten up the party!

Happy Birthday Fearne we hope you’ve had a lovely day!

Get to Know: Emma, Our Childcare Assistant

In 2001, I started my childcare journey at just 17 years old. I began an NVQ Level 2 in Early Years and Education whilst on a placement at Liverpool Black Sisters Afterschool, later being employed by the company as a part-time Play-worker.

I stayed with the company for over 5 years but due to funding cuts and no space for full-time employment I realised it was time to move on. I wanted a more stable career in order to get myself on the property ladder and start a family of my own with my partner David.

This is when I changed my career toward Adult Care and received an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. During employment, I provided Supported Living for adults with learning difficulties. I learned so much about myself and the care needs of others.
Whilst in this job, I bought my first home and shortly after moving in, I had my first child George. Not far behind, followed Olivia Rose. David and I tied-the-knot in 2010.

Having George and Olivia was how I met Tracie, and her co-childminder Phyllis Smith, as they provided childcare for the children while I worked in Adult Care.
In 2011, I had to give up my job to take care of my Mum. At this time, I also needed time out for my own health problems, which David supported me through from start to finish.

With everything happening in my personal life and having two young babies, I decided to take a course to become a childminder myself. However, OFSTED guidelines state I can only care for a particular number of children and my own babies took up two of those places. This career path was not cost-effective to contribute to the family and lead to conversations with Tracie about childminding. Tracie took me on as a Childcare Assistant and I have worked for Tracie’s Treasures ever since!

After many years resolving my health problems, our ‘Miracle Baby’ Leo joined the family in 2017!
